It might seem easy to write these two guys off as jackasses who don't understand the seriousness of their situation, but then again, they might be geniuses by refusing to treat this situation with any more gravitas than it actually warrants.
I think they know exactly what's happened and that this will wind up as a misdemeanor of some sort. And, of course, that's publicity for their studio that you can't buy.
